I run a mobile rig, so you know where my bread is buttered. But the honest answer is that mobile and shop detailing each win somewhere, and pretending otherwise would insult your intelligence. Here is the real comparison, including when I would send you to a shop.

What you actually buy with mobile is your own time back: no drop-off, no shuttle, no waiting room coffee, no second trip. Your car never leaves home and your day never stops.

Where a shop genuinely wins
Multi-day machine paint correction and ceramic coating installs want a controlled indoor bay: stable light, no dust, no weather clock. If your paint needs that level of work, a good shop is the right call and I will say so at the walk-around. For everything else a vehicle needs in a year, the driveway does fine under a canopy.
The weather question, answered
Light Eugene drizzle is fine: I work under a pop up canopy and most of the work is hand finish anyway. Heavy rain, freezing temps, or a wind warning, and we reschedule for a better window at no charge. The forecast is my problem, not yours.

What does the location need?
Room to walk around the vehicle. Driveways, apartment lots, office garages with normal clearance, and gravel out past the pavement all work. Water and power ride with me.
What if the weather turns on my booking day?
We reschedule at no charge. Heavy rain, freezing temps, or wind warnings move the booking to a better window, and light drizzle just means the canopy comes out.
