Detailing Explained · Eugene & Springfield, OR
What A Detail Actually Includes.
A detail is not a fancy car wash. A wash removes loose dirt. A detail resets the vehicle: paint cleaned and protected, wheels and trim done properly, and an interior treated surface by surface instead of sprayed and wiped. Here is exactly what that means, without the mystery.
On the exterior, a real detail starts with foam to lift grit before anything touches paint, then a careful hand wash, wheels and tires cleaned and dressed, trim treated, and glass finished. On the packages that include it, a paint sealant leaves weeks of protection behind. Inside, it means a deep vacuum, compressed air blowing debris out of rails and vents a vacuum cannot reach, every surface wiped and treated top to bottom, and glass done last so it stays done.
- Exterior: foam pre-wash, hand wash, wheels, fenderwells, tires, trim, glass
- Paint sealant: on the Sentinel and the Grail
- Interior: deep vacuum, compressed air blow-out, full surface treatment, door jambs
- Deeper packages add carpet extraction and clay bar paint decontamination
- Add-ons cover engine bay, headlights, pet hair, and Odor Elimination
What separates the packages
The floor is the Lance express clean-up from $150: wash, windows, wipe-down, reset. The middle is the Excalibur from $300: the complete inside-and-out detail most vehicles want. The ceiling is the Grail from $400: everything plus hot water carpet extraction. Interior-only and exterior-only versions exist as the King’s Quarters from $250 and the Sentinel from $175, and booking those two separately costs more than the Grail together.
What a detail does not include
Machine paint correction, the removal of swirls and scratches from the clear coat itself, is a separate skill quoted after an in-person look. Dent repair, glass chips, and upholstery repair are other trades entirely. A detailer who quotes those sight unseen is guessing with your money.
Straight answers
How long does a full detail take?
From about two and a half hours for an exterior-only package up to a full working day for the deepest packages on big rigs. Your booking shows the time block, and I confirm it when we talk.
Is a detail worth it on an older car?
Usually more than on a new one. Ten years of buildup coming off at once is the biggest visible change a vehicle can get without paint work, and protecting it costs a fraction of what neglect does at trade-in.
Do you need my water or power?
No. Both ride on the rig. Driveways, apartment lots, office garages with normal clearance, and rural properties without hookups all work fine.
What should I do before you arrive?
Grab your valuables and anything personal. Normal daily clutter is fine, that is part of the job. Everything else is on me.
